Here's a picture from my previous post - my friend Natalie & her beautiful daughter Baby Kate. Funny thing, we actually ran into them on Sat night at our favorite pizza place, so we ended up sharing dinner with them!
NO I'm not 30 QUITE yet..... BUT, I already got my first birthday present....:-) You all know I love me some RED. Kinda like SHE loves her some Pink. Except, I don't have to wear it every day. My bike isn't red (although it would be so cool if it were). I do however have: a red wall kitchen red (black & white) dishes a new red phone sassy red shoes a red wallet but... the one thing I've been waiting for.... a NEW RED HANDBAG ! I've been checking this site obsessively for a new season of RED to come out. And wouldn't you know.. the new season is here, and it was FULL OF RED. And, not the flashy fire red , but the pretty dark deep red that I love.... And then.. wouldn't you know it... a couple days after said find, I get a preferred customer coupon in the mail for 25% off.... If only the timing weren't so bad. If only I still wasn't making up for my IM expenses. If only it were MY birthday this month not his . After about a week of obsessi...
It's been a while! I started this blog/journal to document training adventures for my first Ironman in 2007. It was a fun adventure and *back then* blogging was the social media of today. It connected me with so many special people that I met and continue to keep in contact with (albeit, not enough). Life got busy, training was more of a lifestyle then a new adventure and sharing my daily with the world became just, well irrelevant. While so much has changed since my last post, there is still a lot of the same. My love for swimming, biking and running, dogs and wine is still there, but my desire to keep pushing and find new boundaries has definitely faded. Over 20 years in this endurance world I've found more in myself then I ever dreamed possible. I've met the most amazing people and traveled to beautiful places. In 2021 after several years of pandemic chaos, I brought myself back to top end fitness and lined up for my 14th Ironman and 8th IMCDA. I had a solid day, 6th in...
Both my girls have done it, and since I've been lacking on the blogging front and after reading this moving post , I just feel inspired to talk about "My One Thing" If I'm truly honest with myself, I know deep down that I do all of this crazy training and racing and all consuming endurance activities for one reason and one reason only. Because I CAN . And, because so many times before I've been told that I CAN'T. And if you know me, even just a little bit, you should know that CAN'T, along with NO are not in MY vocabulary.... I did grow up a rather active kid. I wasn't the best at any sport, but very similar to my current state I was good, or sometimes above average. I was never the the best, or first place or that typical athletic looking child, slightly chubby if I must say, (some things just don't ever change), however I always put my heart into it. 100+%. As a young child in elementary school I played all after school sports. Basketball (pe...
