TeamBSC

I've been just waiting and waiting (had to have all the ducks in a row) to write this post, but now I'm struggling to come up with the words to even describe the excitement I'm feeling.

In my previous posts I've talked about how I've morphed from a (not very good) runner, into a triathlete (by injury default), into a 13 hour Ironman (a couple times), into falling in love with the sport, the community and everything about it!  I've also talked about Michelle, and what a big impact she's had on me as an athlete, and mentor.  So much that she believes in me enough to bring me under her BatShitCrazy family, and call me a coach!

There are other people that have helped me along this journey that I believe deserve some big credit as well.  Racelab, my very first coaches.  I was 23 years old when I met them and trained for my first couple of marathons.  They were amazing.  I showed up to my first long run (2hours late, apparently didn't get the memo that it was July and 7:30 am really isn't an appropriate time to start a run in AZ) in a cotton T-shirt, old Nikes and a pair of boxers.  I learned all sorts of things that well weren't really just common knowledge like they are now (hello social media!):  long run, tempo, fartlek, speed work, RECOVERY.  They are also, in partnership with Mark Allen the coaches who taught me the ever so important role of Heart Rate Training.  Anyone who wants to work with me, will know I'm a firm believer in building that aerobic engine.  I also know how miserable it can be to slow down to an 11 min per mile pace...  Anyway, I just wanted to give a little bit of credit here to those coaches.  They are like family now, and I love and respect them all!

I had one other coach along my journey who coached me to my first BIG PR at Ironman Canada.  Lori-Lynn Leach brought a whole new kinda training concept to me (after self training for a while it was a breath of fresh air!).  I biked more (at the time) then ever in my life and found some new limits!  It was a fun year and she was awesome.

And last, but certainly not least, my friends and training partners who have given me so much support and encouragement to start coaching.  I hope they know how much their belief in me really means.  One so much that he has signed on as my first athlete to coach.  He's already worked with Michelle and understands our training philosophy, but I'm so crazy excited to get to spend this year (and hopefully more to come) kicking his ass helping him reach his goals and finding new limits for himself.

Yesterday, as our new website (THANK YOU SHANE!) was finished, Michelle announced our new TeamBSC Coaching.  I'm so excited for this journey.  Kelly and I are both new coaches starting out on this journey together.  Michelle described us pretty well on her blog post and I couldn't have written it any better.  We're all 3 people with crazy heart and love for this sport, and maybe not the most naturally talented people, but we've proven just how far hard work, and determination can go (actually, still proving that one).

Last but certainly not least I wanted to put out here that Kelly and I will be hosting a BSC training camp at the end of March.  The camp will be based in Scottsdale, AZ and will have some epic training days, specifically on the bike!  The camp will be 4 days, including a day trip to Tucson to do the infamous Mnt Lemmon Climb and ending with a 15-20 mile run through our beautiful Paradise Valley!  If you would like to join us please check out the website and contact me ASAP because we only have 3-4 spots left to fill.  If you do come to camp and are able to stick around... there may or may not be celebratory "Mnt Lemmon Drops/Shantinis" Monday!   Work Hard, Play Hard!

Thanks again everyone for their support and encouragement.  I'm in love with this sport and can't wait to start helping more people learn, grow and achieve their goals!  Please don't hesitate to reach out to me with any questions.

I'm a grad student so can't afford to pay for a coach for a long period of time unfortunately. However, I was wondering if I could do 1-2 months so I could get some workouts nailed down and some general guidelines since I don't "know" what I'm doing coming to racing?
Thanks, Ladonna
